SpotLight Licences
There are 2 main licence types within SpotLight, Background Palette Plus and Background Media Generation.
A Background Palette Plus licence is required to access all non-admin apps, whereas Background Media Generation licences are required to render any content in SpotLight, without this type of licence you will not be able to render any content.
Licence Glossary
Purchasing Group - The team which owns the llicence or licence pool.
Acquire - Means to use, reserve, hold or obtain a licence. When a licence has been acquired, it can not be acquired again until it has been released. A licence can only be acquired once.
In Use - Licence is currently acquired
Release - Is the opposite of acquiring a licence. The licence is no longer in use and can be acquired again by another user.
Licence Pool - Collection of licences that can be distributed amongst sub teams from the licence pool owner.
Background Palette Plus
Background Palette Plus licences are concurrent user licences and are used for all “user” purposes within SpotLight. This licence type is a requirement to enter any non-admin apps, including Shutter, Shutter Pro, Sphere, Scene, Gallery, Video, AR Model and Concierge Launcher.
- These licences can be assigned to each team, or a single licence can be shared across multiple teams. The amount of licences you have will determine how many users can get a stream in SpotLight at once.
- If there are no licences available, you will still be able to access your profile and order history and any admin apps you have access to.
For example, if 2 licences are assigned to the 'Sales' team, only 2 users within the team could load a stream at the same time. Any other users trying to access a licenced app will not be able to do so and will need to wait for other sessions to finish so the licences are released.

Licence Pools
A licence pool is a collection of multiple licences that can be used amongst sub teams.
Background Media Generation
This licence is for processes and internal jobs, used for completing orders. It will be assigned to teams in the same way, but sits in the background until needed for processing orders. Each team must have at least one background media generation licence so content can be rendered, although multiple licences can be assigned to reduce processing times etc.
