Acquiring a Licence
A licence is required to access all non-admin apps, this includes Shutter, Shutter Pro, Sphere, Scene, Gallery, Video, AR Model and Concierge Launcher.
- After you have logged in, if licences are available you will receive a notification on the app selection screen and will be able to select an app.
- Once you enter an app, you will acquire the licence, making it unavailable for other users in your team. Although, multiple licences can be assigned to one team.
- Using multiple tabs will also require multiple licences if users select licenced apps.
- If you acquire a licence and are inactive for longer than 30 minutes, the licence will be released and you must log in again.
- Exiting the app releases the licence for other users. Users will be notified on the app selection screen if no licences are available.
- If a licence becomes available while you are on the app selection screen, you will also be notifed.
Unavailable Licences
If no licences are available, you'll be notified on the app selection screen and won't be able to select any apps. You'll still be able to access your profile info, order history. Access your profile and order history by selecting the profile icon in the top right.
- If a licence is unavailable, it is being used by a user in your team.
- If a licence becomes available while you are on the app selection screen, you will also be notifed.
Purchase Licences
If you are repeatedly being made aware that there are no new licences then you may need to increase the number of licences available to your Team, Account or Service.
To do this please request commercial information by contacting the Service Desk or by contacting your local Account Director or Customer Success Manager.
Licence Types
There are 2 main licence types which include Background Palette Plus and Background Media Generation.
A Background Palette Plus licence is required to access all non-admin apps, whereas Background Media Generation licences are required to render any content in SpotLight, without this type of licence you will not be able to render any content.
Background Palette Plus
Background Palette Plus licences are essentially concurrent user licences and are used for all “user” purposes within SpotLight. This licence type is a requirement to enter any non-admin apps, including Shutter, Shutter Pro, Sphere, Scene, Gallery, Video, AR Model and Concierge Launcher.
- These licences can be assigned to each team, or a single licence can be shared across multiple teams. The amount of licences you have will determine how many users can get a stream in SpotLight at once.
- If there are no licences available, you will still be able to access your profile and order history and any admin apps you have access to.
For example, if 2 licences are assigned to the 'Sales' team, only 2 users within the team could load a stream at the same time. Any other users trying to access a licenced app will not be able to do so and will need to wait for other sessions to finish so the licences are freed.
Background Media Generation
This licence is for processes and internal jobs, used for completing orders. It will be assigned to teams in the same way, but sits in the background until needed for processing orders. Each team must have at least one background media generation licence so content can be rendered, although multiple licences can be assigned to reduce processing times etc.
